Volunteer Opportunities

Unitarian Universalists of Coastal Georgia have an active Social Justice program. The focus for this year will be Safe Harbor, a temporary shelter for youths in the state's Family Services program. On the first Sunday of each month, congregants are asked to bring items, such as clothing, toiletries games and books, to the Sunday service. Members are also asked to volunteer at the facility. In the past few years, the church has provided assistance to Harmony Square, a new day care provider and soon-to-be adult education center in Brunswick's central city.
The membership of Unitarian Universalists of Coastal Georgia recently raised more than $1,000 for the Bounty for Guns program on the Brunswick Police Department.
Work on the environment has included cleanup work along the Altamaha River. We provided help to the Nature Conservancy and the Altamaha Riverkeeper on this project.
UUCG has joined with the GlynnPeace group in efforts to make a statement proclaiming our desire for peace in the world. A peace vigil was held after one of our services, and we participated in a peace poetry reading.

Teams

We have fourteen permanent Teams, as well as several temporary ones. We encourage all of our members and friends to join at least one. Our teams are Building and Grounds, Capital Campaign, Caring, Finance, History, Hospitality, House, Marketing, Membership, Ministry, Music, Program, Religious Education and Social Justice. There are also several Teams which have been working on preparing our new building for use.
